Promoting right faith to dispel superstition, the event advocated that the auspicious lunar July is also a month of joy and gratitude, encouraging the public to observe a vegetarian diet and pray for blessings and the protection of life. The Tzu Chi Foundation Canada held the “Auspicious Seventh Lunar Month Prayer Ceremony” on August 31, 2025. Nearly one hundred attendees, including members of the public, traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, volunteers, and local representatives, gathered together. They made offerings of flowers and fruits and prayed devoutly. During the solemn and harmonious offering ceremony, they expressed respect and care for all sentient beings, praying for a world free from disaster and peace for every family.
Dharma Water Nourishes the Earth, Spreading the Spirit of Goodness
Canada Branch CEO Wan-hui Miao led the offering procession solemnly into the venue. With reverence and devout hearts, they paid respect to the Buddha, presenting offerings of light, fruit, and flowers to honor the Triple Gem, marking the commencement of the prayer blessing ceremony.
The Buddha’s Dharma is like a clear spring, cleansing the dust from the heart. Through the chanting of the hymn “Dharma as Water,” participants experienced the untainted tranquility within and appreciated the solemn beauty of the Dharma. Following this, Tzu Chi volunteers performed the sign language interpretation of “Dharma as Water.” Through performance and chanting, they presented the compassion of the Buddha’s teachings, conveying the concepts of protecting life and environmental protection, allowing the Dharma water to nourish the earth and bring a peaceful coolness to society.

Volunteer Mei-ling Luo , grateful for the opportunity to participate in the sutra adaptation performance again, expressed that this was the greatest blessing for her and her family.
She said:
“Every sign language practice session allows me to feel the peace and tranquility brought by the Buddha’s Dharma.
My spirit is also elevated through constant cleansing.”
British Columbia Provincial Legislator Teresa Wat was invited to participate in the grand event, bringing a congratulatory letter to wish the ceremony smooth progress and a successful completion.
Teresa Wat said in her speech:
“Even before entering politics (with CHMB AM1320), I had many contacts with Tzu Chi. After stepping into the political arena in 2013, my interactions with Tzu Chi increased even more. Participating in various activities like fundraising, and now with the Tzu Chi Great Love Garden and Great Love Daycare, it’s truly wonderful. The TCM free clinic can help many people, spreading Tzu Chi’s Great Love. As a provincial legislator, I will definitely help with whatever I can.”

Protecting Health with Peace Clinic, Walking the Path of Charity Longer
Following the prayer blessing ceremony, the “TCM Peace Clinic” commenced. Fourteen TCM practitioners with rich clinical experience and professional knowledge, along with two physician assistants, provided relevant medical services, safeguarding the health of community members and volunteers. Eighty-seven people received diagnosis and treatment that day.
Dr. Cheng-Che Chung, the convener of the Tzu Chi International Medical Association (TIMA) in Canada responsible for triage, kindly inquired about each patient’s symptoms before arranging them with the appropriate physician for consultation, significantly reducing patient waiting time.
“Dad! Are you really not staying to celebrate my birthday with me?” Faced with his young son’s hopeful gaze, Dr. Brain Huang chose to participate in the free clinic and comforted his son: “Be good! Dad is going to Tzu Chi to help with consultations. I’ll come back tonight to celebrate with you.” Dr. Huang stated: “A child’s once-a-year birthday is certainly important, but I also hope to let him know what a great blessing it is to have the opportunity to help others, and that we should seize it. This is the best birthday gift for him.”
CEO Wan-hui Miao:
“The Canada Branch has a TCM clinic. This clinic is not for making money, but for earning love. Please refer those who need help to us. No matter what the problem is, we hope to be able to help. Besides, if there are patients who cannot come out, we will go to them.”

Vegetarian Cooking Demonstration, Protecting Body and Earth
Vegetarian diets offer many benefits; do not underestimate the power of one vegetarian meal. Respecting all sentient beings, it emphasizes that a “plant-based diet” can protect both the body and the earth.
Three volunteers from Tzu Chi Canada’s “Veggie Goddess Team” introduced three delicious vegetarian dishes: “Vegan Ginger ‘Pork’ Slices,” “Red Yeast Rice with Sticky Rice,” and “Tofu Pockets with Kimchi.” Using simple ingredients and straightforward cooking methods, they created delectable meals.

Red yeast rice is a natural food additive with excellent health benefits. Volunteer Jenifer demonstrated on-site: “For the ingredients and steps for the ‘Red Yeast Rice with Sticky Rice,’ please refer to the ‘Great Love Veggie Kitchen’ recipe, which has very detailed instructions. This simple vegetarian dish can be served as a main course and is perfect for the whole family.”
Wen-Ling Chou’s “Vegan Ginger ‘Pork’ Slices” and Ya-Ting Hsu’s “Tofu Pockets with Kimchi” were also excellent delicacies. Mei Mei Chen assembled these three dishes for everyone to taste. Health was not only visible but also tangible, as everyone learned that vegetarian food can be very healthy. Children couldn’t stop eating, and everyone’s face beamed with happiness and satisfaction.

Good thoughts arise from the heart, making the world more peaceful and all beings auspicious. Through prayers, Dharma chants, vegetarian promotion, and the free clinic safeguarding health, the event gathered everyone’s love and kindness, spreading compassion and care throughout the world. This compassion is the best force for protecting the Earth, resolving disasters, and purifying people’s hearts.
