On February 7, 2026, Tzu Chi Academy, Richmond was filled with festive spirit as it hosted a vibrant “Lunar New Year Celebration,” blending cultural heritage with character education.
The event kicked off with the energetic beats of drums and gongs. A traditional Lion Dance and a visit from the God of Wealth distributing red envelopes instantly ignited the atmosphere, bringing surprises and laughter to the children. Following this, students from various classes took the stage for festive performances, showcasing their language learning achievements while conveying New Year blessings and gratitude to their teachers and parents.
During the “Great Kindness Challenge” awards ceremony, students were recognized and applauded for putting kindness into action. The most popular attraction was undoubtedly the “Happy Lunar New Year” game booths. Featuring retro pinball, ring toss, red envelope draws, and auspicious greeting challenges, these activities allowed children to experience the charm of traditional culture through play.
The celebration also featured the “Return of the Bamboo Coin Banks,” where children brought back their daily savings to help others, learning the values of giving and gratitude. We thank all the teachers, volunteers, and parents for their dedication, making this day not just a celebration, but a heartwarming lesson in life education.
