On March 8, 2026, the Jing Si Hall of the Tzu Chi Foundation Canada in Vancouver was filled with festive joy as 108 volunteers and community members gathered for the “New Year Love and Gratitude Reunion.” In a warm atmosphere, everyone reflected on the path traveled, expressed mutual gratitude, and gathered good thoughts.
The event kicked off joyfully with an energetic warm-up exercise led by senior volunteer Qiu-Yue Lin. Attendees then watched Master Cheng Yen’s Life Wisdom, deeply reflecting on the teaching that “with mindful commitment, even a small karmic affinity can achieve great deeds.” Mutual Love team leader Yue-Li Huang and CEO Wan-Hui Miao also expressed their gratitude for the volunteers’ selfless dedication over the past year.
The highlight of the event was the creative “Love Tour Group.” Volunteers led the audience on a journey through time, reviewing Tzu Chi Vancouver’s philanthropic footprints since 1992. The journey showcased early visits to senior homes, preparing hot meals for the homeless, establishing the Tzu Chi Academy, setting up the UBC Food Bank, creating a Loving Farm to provide organic vegetables to families in need, and the 2025 hot meal distribution at Oppenheimer Park. Every step over these 34 years has been a cycle of love and goodness.
Representatives from various volunteer stations took the stage to share their community achievements through sign language, games, and presentations. Receiving the “Red Envelopes of Blessings and Wisdom,” everyone engaged in sincere prayer, hoping to spread this warmth to every corner of the world.
The lunchtime hot pot gathering filled the venue with the warmth and joy of a Dharma-family reunion. As everyone enjoyed the harmonious meal together, they collectively wished Master Cheng Yen a joyful “Happy Birthday,” demonstrating the strong cohesion of the Tzu Chi family. As the event concluded, the younger generation proactively helped clear the tables and chairs. By putting the values of “Truth, Goodness, and Beauty” of the Jing Si Dharma lineage into action, they perfectly illustrated the generational transmission of the Tzu Chi spirit.
