On February 14, 2026, coinciding with both Valentine’s Day and the upcoming Lunar New Year of the Golden Horse, the Montreal Tzu Chi Academy hosted a unique “New Year Parent-Child Fun Fair.” Despite the swirling snow outside, the campus was filled with the warmth and joy of the festive season.
The event kicked off with the lively “Sticky Good Luck” rhythmic game. Through close interactions like cheek-to-cheek and back-to-back movements, parents and children broke through the winter chill. The final warm embrace of “hearts sticking together” was not only a beautiful Valentine’s gift but also a symbol of the close bond between teachers, students, and families in a foreign land.
The cultural heritage segment was equally captivating. To welcome the energetic Year of the Horse, everyone gathered to write calligraphy couplets. From the moment they lifted their brushes to write, focusing on every stroke, the red square papers carried not just the scent of ink, but the deep affection of overseas wanderers for Chinese culture.
The subsequent “Zodiac Chemistry Test” brought endless laughter. Parents shed their inhibitions, using all their might to mimic the postures of zodiac animals. Their amusing performances had the whole room roaring with laughter, helping children memorize traditional zodiac culture through edutainment.
As the event drew to a close, the school specially prepared a variety of seasonal New Year dishes. After tasting rice cakes symbolizing “rising step by step” and dumplings representing “bringing in wealth and treasure,” the atmosphere livened up again with the “Spinning Luck: Diabolo Experience.” Children excitedly tried their hand at this traditional folk toy, with spinning diabolos symbolizing a turn for the better. Finally, amidst the cheers for the surprise appearance of the God of Wealth, everyone exchanged congratulations, perfectly rounding off this reunion filled with the warmth of Tzu Chi humanistic culture.
