From July 18 to August 24, 2025, the “Dr. Chuang’s Scalp Acupuncture (CSA) Legacy Elite Training Program,” a six-week, 72-hour course, was held at the Tzu Chi Foundation Canada. The program was personally led by Dr. Jason Yi-Shing Chuang from Austria, with Dr. Hedwig Chuang-Quehenberger featured as a guest lecturer.
The course enrolled 20 Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners to become the first group of certified CSA instructors. Through 18 clinical sessions featuring real patient cases, hands-on group practice, and one-on-one technique correction, the students progressively honed their skills in both theory and practice. During the program, they provided treatment to and benefited approximately 95 patients.
The curriculum covered six major theoretical units, starting with scalp acupuncture point location and zone identification, and extending to neuroanatomy and case studies of common conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, cervical and lumbar spine disorders, shoulder and knee joint issues, and myopia. The course also explored interdisciplinary applications, including the autonomic nervous system, balance disorders, tinnitus, and resonance therapy, fully demonstrating the breadth and depth of scalp acupuncture.
Throughout the six-week program, the 20 practitioners not only advanced professionally but also cultivated deep friendships through learning and mutual support. On the day of the closing ceremony, the group surprised one of their fellow students with a birthday celebration, creating a warm and touching moment that reflected the supportive camaraderie and the spirit of passing on the legacy among healers.
This journey combined knowledge transmission with clinical practice. The 20 practitioners will carry forward Dr. Chuang’s generous teachings, continuing to “pass on the light” so that many more patients may benefit from this healing art.
