To celebrate Canada’s 159th birthday on July 1, 2026, over two hundred Tzu Chi Canada volunteers continued a six-year tradition by holding simultaneous community clean-up events across five major Metro Vancouver communities. From city streets to sandy beaches, volunteers and their families took practical action to care for the planet, adding a beautiful touch of green to their communities.
Event highlights included a heartwarming “three-generation” family participating in Surrey’s 29-year-long clean-up tradition, and enthusiastic Tzu Chi University students from Taiwan joining the effort in Richmond shortly after arriving in Canada. Meanwhile, volunteers in Burnaby, Coquitlam, and Vancouver instilled a love for the environment in the next generation through family participation and a dedicated beach clean-up. Together, they bent down in service, making Canada Day more meaningful.
