In the United States, Ohio Tzu Chi volunteers braved the wind and snow, to pull off a beautiful spring festival. Meanwhile in Canada`s Vancouver, Tzu Chi volunteers also held a spring festival, during which, many talented individuals performed, to bring joy to their audience.

In the United States, Tzu Chi volunteers in Austin,Texas held a Chinese New Year celebration at the Murchi-son Middle School. During the event, participants donated their filled bamboo coin banks while others adopted one for the first time. To celebrate the Chinese New Year, Tzu Chi volunteers organized various events around the globe. In Canada, the Vancouver Tzu Chi Academy organized a workshop for children to learn traditional crafts and enjoy the New Year`s festivities.

In the Greater Vancouver area, in Coquitlam, Canada, due to a large immigrant population, the government has funded trainings at a learning center to improve immigrants’ English. As community service is a part of the program, for the third year this year, recently the teacher brought 17 students to participate in Tzu Chi’s food distribution.

In Canada, Burnaby Tzu Chi volunteers have been providing needy students of the Byrne Creek Secondary School with nutritious breakfasts twice a week. With the encouragement of the school staff, volunteers decided to participate in the Gift Basket Program launched by the school-a program that provides needy families with daily necessities and food.

  Tzu Chi and the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Anne, held an opening ceremony for the three schools, that the Buddhist NGO has rebuilt. The event was attended by approximately 500 people. Sister Rita from the congregation’s headquarters in Canada said, that Tzu Chi not only rebuilt schools, but also brought hope to Haiti.

  In Canada, the Vancouver Tzu Chi Academy, recently held a personal development course, for parents and volunteers, where they learned how to make good use of recyclable items, in their everyday life. Chen Shaosui, an expert in green living, also shared tips, on how to craft useful items out of plastic bottles.

  In Canada, two volunteer training seminars were held in the cities of Vancouver and Toronto. During the seminars, Tzu Chi volunteers shared their stories with those in the audience, as they hoped to inspire more to walk the Tzu Chi path.
