It is said that every journey starts with a single step. Tzu Chi’s origin started from a single step of kindness. Throughout the past 59 years, as the number of Tzu Chi members and volunteers increased, Tzu Chi gradually journeyed from its birthplace in Hualien, Taiwan, to all corners of the world.
To date, Tzu Chi has over 10 million volunteers and employees in 67 countries, and provides services to 136 countries, creating a community of global citizens taking action to make the world a better place. Working to help those in need and in turn empower them to help others, Tzu Chi volunteers reach out to the most vulnerable within communities and work to ensure that no one is left behind.
Tzu Chi’s mission in Canada involves Charity, Medicine, Education, Humanistic Culture, and Environmental Protection with expansion planned for the near future.
