All of the necessary tools will be provided, along with a healthy snack. In the spirit of zero waste, participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottles.

Please dress for the weather. This is a rain or shine event, unless severe weather is in the forecast. We recommend wearing all-weather shoes.

Safety Tips & Things To Remember

Your health and safety is the highe​st priority at our cleanups. Please read the following tips and take every precaution to avoid injury.

  • Wear weather appropriate and protective clothing (e.g. boots or closed toe shoes, hat, sunscreen, bug spray).
  • Stick to a defined cleanup location.
  • Work in pairs or small groups.
  • Use gloves when picking up litter.
  • Sort garbage and recyclables separetely.
  • DO NOT pick up dangerous items (broken glass, needles or syringes, chemicals, medical waste, sharp objects, animal carcasses and heavy/oversized objects). If you come across any of these items please leave them where you found them and report the location for safe disposal.
  • DO NOT pick up litter in unsafe areas such as riverbanks and roadways.
  • Be mindful of vehicles when near roads.
  • Please stay off private property.
  • All children participating under the age of 12 should be supervised by an adult.

Photo & Video Release

Tzu Chi’s Documentation Team will be taking photos and video footage at our community cleanup events. These images may be used by us and published in news stories, social media, and on websites. In addition we may distribute them to our event partners for their use.
